I bought an inclusive round trip from Bangkok before I left England.
It was an amazing experience - we went by the overnight train - I was in a compartment with 'elephant keepers' from throughout the U.S.
On arriving in Surin we went by cycle rickshaw to our base for the day.
The elephant roundup I thought was a bit comercialized but nevertheless it was quite an experience. Some 200 elephants were put through their paces.
Secondary school children looked after us and prepared a wonderful meal in the school hall.
Pros and Cons
- Pros:We were really well looked after by some very friendly people!
- In a nutshell:What an experience!
