"Riga - constantly changing" a Riga Travel Page by mustardgirl

Last time I was in Riga was 1999 spring... Since then the town has gone through massive transformation: old houses have been renovated, there are plenty of nice pubs and coffee places and you can almost forget where you are, it feels like any other European capital. But driving off the center you can still find traces of Soviet times. It is kinda exotic for visitor but for people who have seen and remember that time period it can feel a bit frustrating and depressing. But if these Soviet landmarks are exhibited right then will give an advantage to Riga that many other European can’t have. I think one good example of this is the building, which now houses Occupation museum.

The tourist season in Riga is as short as in Tallinn… during the summer the streets and hotels are packed but starting from September the streets get emptier and if you happen to visit on a cloudy-windy-rainy day then the impression can be quite poor.

I wonder what is Riga like in 5 years time….
