The best way to travel to the heart of Paris in my opinion must be in First Class on Eurostar. Once off the train it's easy to purchase a 3 day metro pass and head towards your pre-booked hotel (not for me I'm afraid trudging round looking for accommodation, I want to dump my bags and see the sights asap). Having a metro ticket certainly helps as the city is fairly spread out. I would recommend you head towards the Eiffle tower, perhaps climb up to the 2nd level or if unlike me you have a head for heights take the lift to the 3rd level. There are usually long lines for the lifts, so if fitness allows climb the stairs instead! A trip along the Seine is also not to be missed as you can also decide where you want to go back and revisit. The Latin quarter was my favourite area, street artists & performers and plenty of small restaurants. There really is so much to see in the wonderful city that even after 4 visits I would still love to revisit. My personal tip is to buy or borrow the Paris eyewitness travel guide by Dorling Kindersley as it's worth every penny. |

| Pros: | "Restaurants, historic buildings, ambiance." | | Cons: | "the usual with most cities: overcharging street vendors and pick pockets" | | In A Nutshell: | "Worth learning a few words of French." |
