"You can never shake the ancient dust of Africa from your boots" ... This is an old African saying, and such a fitting one, especially to use in this case; it is tempting to use it because Namibia is so incredibly dusty (never seen so much dust in my life!) - but what I really mean is that the Namibia experience will certainly remain with me forever - the vast, extreme emptiness and stark beauty really gets to you. One could easily mistakenly think that there is nothing interesting in a desert country, especially if its neighbour is the famous South Africa, but that is such a gross understatement - which has luckily kept Namibia free of the mass tourism which has tainted some other African countries.
The option to self-drive very easily, the vast empty distances, few tourists or locals give you the opportunity to view the country in almost total loneliness and peace, so you get the case of reverse culture shock when returning back home!
