Marenco Lodge is situated on the Osa Peninsula between Drake Bay and Corcovado National Park.
It is accessible only by boat - but the management will arrange all transportation issues.
You can stay in either cabins or bungalows. I stayed in a magnificent rustic cabin which was great value for money considering it was very nice and upscale.
Unique Qualities: The cabins are situated amongst the forest and have a great view of the Pacific Ocean. Each cabin has a veranda with rocking chair from which to enjoy the views and the ocean breeze.
You can also enjoy the sight of toucans, scarlet macaws, hummingbirds and various other colourful tropical birds without leaving the porch of your cabin! One can also very easily see white faced capuchin monkeys on the lodge's grounds.
The lodge has a private reserve with various rainforest trails for the visitors to enjoy. Just down the hill where the cabins are situated there is a nice beach where to swim, sunbathe or simply stroll to relax.
Budget travellers be warned! The cabins are indeed relatively cheap but you are expected to have 3 meals a day at $10 each person so the cost does add up. There are no shops whatsoever from where to buy food so you those meals are the only food with which to live!
Marenco also organises various tours, the best being the tours to Corcovado (San Pedrillo Station) and Cano Island.
Marenco Lodge has an excellent restaurant with breathtaking views and an unforgettable luxurious atmosphere. The food (3 course meals) is very good, and the management are happy to make arrangements for any special requirements (vegetarian etc).
