Costa Rica - A Rich Coast Indeed ...

by SanguiniA - last update: Dec 6, 2005

COSTA RICA is an incredible country, both from the casual tourists' point of view as well as from a biological/botanical point of view. It has coasts on both the Atlantic and the Pacific ocean, and mountains which cover over half the land area, these features greatly affect the climate of the country. The variation in temperatures and the different elevations produce a variety of micro-environments which results in stunning bioderversity. Costa Rica has basically two seasons, the dry season and the wet season (to me it looks like a wet season and a very wet season though!!)

Costa Rica is a must for anyone who likes wildlife (especially birds) and lovely forests and beaches.

My Costa Rica pages describe my stay between the 15th November and 02nd December 2003 which is still considered to be the wet season. It is obviously more desiderable to pay a visit in the dry season (January to around easter time is reputedly the best time to visit) but I had to visit in this time due to budget reasons!

Itinerary :

3 days Tortuguero
4 days in the Osa Peninsula (Marenco and Corcovado reserves)
4 days in Monteverde/Santa Elena region
2 days in the Fortuna/Arenal region
1 day in Cano Negro reserve

Pros:"Beautiful country with amazing wildlife"
Cons:"I want to go there again!"
In A Nutshell:"Costa Rica is simply Nature's Showcase"
