What a good idea to splash out to stay in this place! It really puts you in the Zanzibar Stone Town atmosphere - the exotic arab taste part that is. Also great is its rooftop restaurant with really good food and great views! The hotel also boasts a pool in its internal courtyard.

Very very highly recommended. And book early in high season, there are only 16 rooms here.

Unique Qualities: The Arab architecture is stunning, but the atmosphere is rendered truly authentic by the furnishing - authentic Zanzibar antiques. I especially liked the 4 poster beds - so luxurious - as well as the beautiful baths in the bathrooms.

This is more of a guesthouse than a hotel. It is situated on Jambiani beach, just a few metres away from the sea, with unobstructed views of the Indian ocean. Considering the price, this place is well worth the money - and is spotlessly clean.

My only complaint is that the beds and the pillows were rock hard - we were joking that if we had an intruder in the room we didn't have to worry ... we would just swing a pillow in his face and that would certainly break his nose and jaw!

Unique Qualities: Each room has a terrace overlooking the ocean (except the budget rooms without the bathroom, which overlook the courtyard). The hotel also has a number of deckchairs and umbrellas on the beach, the perfect relaxation spot!

The guesthouse also has a good restaurant, with views of the ocean and good home-style food. Other guests of other guesthouses nearby were coming to eat here - so that certainly makes this place worthwhile.
