Who Wouldn't Love It ?

These are, of course Rotto's Quokkas - small wallabies. They exist only here and a small colony on the mainland down near Bunbury , I believe.
They are the reason for the island's name.
The Dutch explorer Vlamingh way back in the 1600's came ashore here. When he saw them he described them as - the Dutch word for "rats", and the place as "ratnest" in Dutch, Rottnest Island.
Like all other "wild" animals meeting pleasantly with humans, their numbers have been diminishing but may now be safeguarded.

VIDEO CLIP NOTE: I CANNOT AT THE MOMENT EDIT THE NOTATION, BUT WHERE IT SAYS '...SUPER 8 ...', IT SHOULD BE '.... VHS VIDEOTAPE ...'

Lots of appeal.

Unlike most of the wallaby family they seem to be fairly active in the daytime.

Lots of interest.

They are a part of the many attractions of beautiful "Rotto".
It calls you back.
