We've enjoyed two short late summer visits to Montreal, the first at the end of our cross continent adventure in 2002, the second over the 2005 Labor Day weekend. Montreal is, of course, the most 'foreign' city in our region, where we have to brush up our French. As many American college students know, it's a very convenient place to (legally) get a drink before you're 21, and that's no doubt one of the reasons this city is so well known for its nightlife. However, it's perhaps the old city that's really Montreal's most unique attribute, a streetscape like no other in North America - except, perhaps, that of nearby Quebec City.
