    Getting TO/AROUND: There's really no concealing the fact that you need a car to get around this area: some non-driving friends recently asked us about the public transportation situation, and it's not good, at least if you want to get away from town. On the up side, the car does allow you to get away from it all: there are so many hiking trails around here that it's worth seeking out some of the less-travelled routes, while the car also allows you to choose one town as a home base rather than having to move from night to night.
