Getting TO/AROUND: Given the constant construction, bumper to bumper traffic, and expensive parking, the T, Boston's subway, is the only way to go. Even at $1.70 a ride (as of January 2007), it is probably the most hassle free way to get into and around the city, not to mention the musical entertainment in the various stations. In late 2006, the T system introduced new passes designed to simplify and speed up riding the T. It can be confusing, though: the hard plastic Charlie Card is not the same as the papery Charlie Ticket, even though both can be loaded up with dollars and re-used. The biggest difference between the two is on price: one subway trip with a Card will set you back $1.70, whereas the price is $2 if you are using a Ticket. Beware! Visit the MBTA website for more information and maps - and for information about the monthly passes if you're staying a while.

Getting TO/AROUND: Not known for anything good, Logan has road construction, terminal construction, very expensive parking, and no easy public transport access from Boston. Not to mention flight delays. But what airport doesn't have most of those things? We have grown to accept Logan as a part of life in Boston. It may not be good, but it isn't always bad either. Plus, the near constanct construction has starting to come to a conclusion and the results are shaping up well. One of our favorite things about Logan is landing on a trans-Atlantic flight. It looks like the plane is going to touch down on the water, until the runway appears without a moment to spare!

Getting TO/AROUND: Driving in Boston is something that, even after living in the area for a while, we still try not to do unless there is no other option. With feet that work and a very capable T system, we find that driving isn't worth the hassle or, especially, the cost of parking. However, if getting to Boston by car is your only option, we would suggest driving to a T or commuter rail station. Leave the car in the suburbs and take the train the rest of the way in. Even if you have to pay to park at the train station, it is considerably less than what you would pay in Boston!
