It may be cliché, but Stockholm really is one of the world's most gorgeous capital cities. I spent a month working in this lovely city in 2001, just at the end of the summer warmth, and the city, spread over many islands, was a glittering distraction from my work. And Sarah has been lucky enough to travel to Stockholm for business a number of time. Maybe someday, we'll even get to visit Stockholm together!

Stockholm is not a cheap city to visit (in fact, it might be worth waiting until you're no longer on a backpacker budget). But, when you do get there, we're confident you will find that it's a city whose history and beauty are very much worth the wait.
