Skiathos is a short 3 hour flight from Gatwick (I think Manchester operate flights as well) - and isn't yet a mainstream holiday island like Zante or Rhodes - but it's certainly heading that way. It's a beautiful island, with approximately 60 beaches, probably the best selection I've seen in the Med.
Skiathos is small and is well served with public transport, namely the island bus service. Taxis are everywhere and are relatively cheap, plus it's easy to hire a car, motorbike or moped (watch out for Greek drivers, espcially going round bends).
One beach tip - head where the crowds go, then find a dirt track or path. You'll find just as nice a beach with hardly anyone on. This doesn't apply to Little Banana - the whole nudism thing doesn't really do it for me. |

| Pros: | "Easy to get to, beautiful landscape, awesome beaches" | | Cons: | "Mosquitoes, wasps, annoying Reps from holiday companies" | | In A Nutshell: | "You could go to a different beach and neigbouring Taverna every day for two months - just watch out for the crowds" |
