Western Menorca: an overview | Cove close to Cala en Forcat |
I travelled to Menorca in June 2006 for a mere seven nights - which is never long enough to get to know a place... especially as Menorca is a pretty big island - the second largest of the Balearics.
Our holiday was confined to the western side of the island, from the fairly grim resort of Cala en Forat to Ciutadella, and then south to Cala en Bosch.
There's no escaping it... the western coast of Menorca is intensively developed around a barren, rocky and treeless landscape. There is the odd pleasant resort however, we just didn't happen to stay in one.
It's not all bad though - Menorca's second largest town, Cituadella, is gorgeous and full of history. There's also some pretty coves to be discovered too. Would I recommend it? You'll have to read my tips and find out... |
