    • My hike across Tennyson Down started from the Needles and ended in Freshwater Bay. It's a fairly leisure hike; I didn't have a map and didn't know the name of the place until I returned home and researched. But it's a pleasant surprise. The photo shows the view from the high ground of Tennyson Down with layers of colors. At the far end where you see smokestacks is Southhampton on mainland England, where Mayflower and Titanic launched many years ago.
