  • BUYING BEER & ALCOHOL IN THE 7/11!

These are the main beers sold in Thailand and prices are for the large (Ghetto) bottles!

Chang Beer 35 baht - The cheapest beer but not the worst I loved it also sponsors of Everton FC.

Leo Beer 37 baht - Not as good as Chang and more expensive goes flat quick, try it.

Singha Beer 45 baht - Most expensive, up market Thai beer really quite good.

Tiger Beer 55 baht - Imported from China as far as I know, yeah its good.

Heinekin 80 baht - Why go to Thailand and drink imported beers.

    ALCOPOPS (Poof Juices)
Not nice at all some wine spitzer things arent bad but Nite and Spy are boke. Can still get imported breezers or whatever.

    MEKHONG (Traditional Thai Rum)
Cheap, 40% alcohol and actually quite good. Well known for use in buckets and is known by the Thais as a labourers drink because it's so cheap. Ten glass bottle costs 150 baht half bottle costs 80 baht.

Favorite Dish: Try a ten glass bottle of Mekhong (Sangsom) with a 1.5 litre of coke and bottle of red bull and bag of ice you'll be spending less than 200 baht.
    Well worth it i guarantee.

  • For over 3 months i lived on a diet of Kai Kapraw and fried eggs. Kai Kapraw in English is Chicken Basil and is chicken cooked with basil leaves and hot chilli peppers served with rice, it is real hot and pretty dam good.
I ordered it from my apartment delivered to the door for 35baht a meal less than (£0.50) and used to also get them heated at the local 7/11 at the Eze-go fridge (27baht).
    Lovely!

Street Food: Cheapest way to eat

  • Restaurant Name: Street Foods

Near everywhere you go you will find street vendors cooking up meats. Looks quite nice but truthfully you'll not eat it very often.

The meats they normally sell would be sausages (frankfurt type), fish balls, pork balls, squid or octopus, and some others.

They are heated over a small BBQ type cart and then chopped up and put in a bag. You are then offered the sauces mainly fish sauce and chilli sauce. Take your pick.

You use a pointed stick to eat it...

Favorite Dish: Other types of street food would be iced coffees, teas, drinks etc. fresh fruits, and BUGS (never tried)

Chester's Grill: You'll see it everywhere - also do delivery

  • Restaurant Name: Chester's Grill

Chesters grill is not very Thai and is more like an American fast food franchise. I would normally get Chesters Grill delivered to my apartment whenever i feel a bit peckish. They do a wide selection of roast chicken, drumsticks, battered fish, hot dogs etc. The chicken pieces are delish I preferred them to the KFC chicken.

If you are going out for a meal do not go to Chesters Grill unless you really cannot handle anymore Thai food. It is good to order to your apartment or the pool and have a snack with your mates. 10 baht delivery charge and the number is 1145. There will be an english speaking operator and best to do is to get a set and get a surprise.

Emporium food court: Plenty to eat in the Emporium.

  • Restaurant Name: Emporium food court

There are a number of decent restaurants in the Emporium. On the top floor of the emporium (below the cinema) there is a massive food court selling all sorts of Thai, European and Asian Cuisine. It is great to just walk about looking at all there is and grab a bite or 2 on your way.

Some of my favourit places to eat in the Emporium are Secret Recipe on the 3rd floor and Fuji (japanese sushi) on the 4th floor. Whatever you are looking for you will find it in the Emporium.

You should also check out Jumzap Hut and BBQ Plaza where you get to cook your own food.

Fuji Restaurant: Don't worry if you don't like sushi.

  • Restaurant Name: Fuji Restaurant

The first restaurant I ate at on arriving in Bangkok was the Fuji in the Emporium. I had never tried sushi before and was not a big fan but the girlfriend insisted. Luckily I found it was not all raw fish and I ordered myself a steak set. The steak set was great, the steak was perfect and the 3 sauces with it were all soo good. Also got some veg and soup with the meal.

I did try some sushi since I was there and actually quite liked some of the raw fish and tofu things and my favourit which I thought I would hate was a crispy octopus ball dipped in some type of soy sauce.

Fuji is now 1 of my favourit restaurants in Bangkok because of the great food and atmosphere.

MK is a franchise of Suki Yaki restaurants. If you are new to suki yaki it is where you are given a pot on your table which contains boiling water. Some herbs are thrown in to give you a tasty soup. You choose from the menu what meats, veg, tastes, you want to add and these are brought to you. It is then up to you to decide what and when you want to add them to the soup and leave them to cook for a bit. You are given a big ladel to serve the soup. You will also have some sauces, condiments etc. to add to the soup to gice it a bit of spice or taste.

  • Jumzap Hut is a franchise of Jim Jum restaurants which are similar to the Japanese Suki Yaki restaurants except spicier and thai. If you are new to Jim Jum or suki yaki it is where you are given a pot on your table which contains boiling water. Some herbs are thrown in to give you a tasty soup. Does lots of different japanese meals i.e. curries etc. and also does sets of sushi and meat sets. Normally I would not sit in at Oishi but if I felt peckish in the apartment I would phone for delivery. The steak set is my favourit along with the chicken curry.

For delivery phone 027123456 and you will be given to an English speaking operator.
