London Town

Why does the soldier at the back have a jet pack?"
I first visited London aged 8 years old, and it was a big event to go on such a trip.

Of course I have been back many times since. I studied there as a student for nearly 6 years, by the end of which time I was ready to leave!

However after 5 years in the Provinces, I was back, this time for 2 years. London was a different city, now I could afford it!

I remember taking my little sister to London when she was 9 years old, doing only the things she wanted to do (Changing of the Guard, Tower of London and Hamley’s toy store). Last month I took my own daughter, now at that age, on a similar trip, which also included Hamley’s toy store. Some things never change!

The sites of London are well known, and mostly can be seen for free
On our last visit (April 2003) the weather was very warm. We spent 3 days in the city, and had fun exploring all the street theatre (for just a contribution) at Covent Garden, paid a little more and saw "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang "at the London Palladium (a great show, particularly for the kids).

A return trip this spring was as much fun, and the sights are still there!

During the day we went to the Science Museum (the Introductory guided tour at 11am is strongly recommended), Madame Tussauds and the Planetarium (NOT value for money that one!), and Brass Rubbing in the crypt of St Martin's in the Field in Trafalgar Square (great fun, and an unusual souvenir or gift). Of course we did the prerequisite sites: Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament etc. too.
Atten-------shun!
