    Getting TO/AROUND: So you want a ride in a gondola, but find it too expensive (or don't have the romantic partner with you to make it worth it). Here's the cheaper way to do it, catch one of the ferries that take you from one side of the Grand Canal to the other. For a few lira (well probably a Euro these days) you get taken IN A GONDOLA across the Grand Canal. As the personal gondolas can't take you in this busy thoroughfare, it is also the only way you can ride a gondola on the grand canal!

    Getting TO/AROUND: Of course it is expensive to go on a gondola ride, but it costs nothing to photograph them! Your friend's back home won't know that you didn't actually go on a ride!
