Perth is my hometown - I've lived here since I was born. It's a pretty isolated City in terms of the rest of the Australian capital Cities, i.e. Canbarra, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Darwin and Hobart, however well worth a visit if you can.

Perth has a rather laid back atmosphere with a pretty easy going population. Definitely none of the traffic hassels of Sydney or Melbourne. There is a real water culture - with an abundance of beaches and the Swan River available to enjoy.

I would definitely recommend visiting Perth during the summer months (December through to February), that way you can really take advantage of the Swan River and the Beaches.
