  • Fantastic Fantastic Fantastic. No trip to Jersey would be complete without a day spent at the zoo. Okay it does not have elephants, giraffes etc but it makes up for that in wonderful surroundings with animals virtually roaming free. Best time to go is in late spring when all the "parents" are showing the latest additions to their families. Another tip, if the weather is nice, is to take your own picnic.

  • This is an annual parade which occurs on the second Thursday in August. Hundreds of people are involved in building huge themed floats. Millions of flowers are imported to the island to adorn these floats and it is quite spectacular to see. There is also a moonlight parade which involves most of the floats. Best to see both parades so as not to miss any of the excitement!!

Things To Do: A Chilling Memorial to World War

  • THE GERMAN OCCUPATION of Jersey during the Second World War lasted almost five years and, like invaders down the centuries before them the occupiers left an indelible mark not just on the Island's history but also on its landscape.

The most fascinating example of this is undoubtedly the vast underground hospital created when invasion seemed imminent early in 1944.

It takes just a few steps into the German Underground Hospital to realize just what an amazing feat of engineering was achieved by the efforts of a legion of forced labourers marched from every corner of conquered Europe.

A chill is apparent within moments of entering the echoing entrance tunnel. This is no fabrication, no theme park fantasy. An absolute MUST to see.

  • A Neolithic burial mound, dating back 5,500 years dominates this tranquil site. Following recent excavations, the entrance to the tomb has now been restored to its original glory. A tiny chapel is situated on top of the mound, (Mabon Crypt can be seen in this chapel) and in addition, there are geology and archaeology galleries and a World War Two German bunker. This bunker houses a unique memorial to the memory of the slave-workers in the Channel Islands during the second World War. In the grounds of the museum stands the Neolithic House which is the focus for a number of activities designed to give visitors a better understanding of the day-to-day life of the community that built the burial mound.

  • Built on a rocky islet in the 1590s, the Castle was named after Queen Elizabeth I by Sir Walter Raleigh whilst he was Governor of Jersey. It is reached by a 1,000 meters long causeway. At high tide the causeway is completely submerged but can still be reached by privately operated amphibious DUKW's - an experience not to be missed!

  • The Jersey Experience is a voyage through time which begins on the deck of a Victorian paddle steamer destined for St Helier. During the early part of this journey visitors have the chance to learn about Jersey as it is today; to discover how it relates to Britain both politically and geographically, how the legislature is organised and to learn something of the traditions of the Island. The Living Legend has its own Adventure Golf course and Craft and Shopping Village. Local cuisine can also be sampled in their Jersey Kitchen Restaurant.

  • This was the first lighthouse in the British Isles to be built of reinforced concrete in 1874. It is an outstanding landmark and visited by hundreds every year.

It is also a spectacular place to watch the sunset and to even watch the ferries go past.

  • A balmy evening, a picnic, glass of wine and a good movie. What more could you ask for?!

For one week in August there is an open air cinema in a local park where the locals and tourists gather to enjoy a picnic and a good film (normally a past blockbuster, family movie).

Best bit of all - it is FREE!!

  • An incredible FREE Air Display.

The Display itself takes place away from the confines of the airport in St. Aubin's Bay on the south coast of the Island.

The geography of the bay provides a fantastic natural amphitheatre for the display aircraft as well as offering spectators a wide variety of vantage points.

    Things To Do: Beaches

  • With SEVENTEEN different types of sand to get between your toes there are loads of beaches to choose from. Each beach has different qualities which attract different types of people. For example St. Ouen's Bay is quite definitely the place for surfing, wind surfing and kite surfing. St. Brelades Bay is more for water sports like water skiing. Portelet and Plemont are romantic bays. Greve de Lecq for families with loads of rock pools for kids to "fish" and play in. Gorey - where you feel you walk for miles just to cover your knees in the water.

There are at least TEN beaches to watch the sun go down as well!!
