I came here and read a lot on the pickpocket situation in Rome before I left for my week vacation. well, i just got back, and I wanted to put my own response here - I didn't run into a single problem all week with pickpockets. halfway through the week I quit wearing the money belt and just put my money in my front pocket. My travel buddy didn't have any problems either.

Traffic: Rome, crossing the street

Before leaving for Rome last week, I read a lot about how hard it is to cross the street. so I was nervous about that. But i'm here to say, don't be! they have crosswalks, the traffic does stop for pedestrians. I DID almost get creamed by a scooter when crossing in the middle of the street where there was no crosswalk, so be careful with that!
