Discovered by William Cameron in 1885 at the level of 4500-5600 feet above the sea level, this cool place was named after him -- Cameron Highlands.

From 1896-1902, the path up to Cameron Highlands was windened and improved. Sir George Maxwell paid a visit in 1925 and it was then developed into a Hill Station which provide resting place away from the huminity at sea level.

Between 1926-1931, Cameron Highlands was then zoned into areas reserved for the department of Algriculture, Township, and Residential Sites, Aras or services, National Park, General Administration and Recreation areas. After the Japanese occupation interest to develop further was revived but progress until 1960s was hindered due to Emergency. After the termination of Emergency, the hill station was developed into a resort which attract people from all around to feet the cool breezing here.
