"Grevil's Malatya and Mt Nemrut" Malatya Ili by Grevil

We visited Malatya mainly as a base to visit Mt Nemrut.
Malatya appears to be a prosperous city, and has a friendly and bustling admosphere, but does not have other tourist attractions of major interest (that we found out about anyway!).
There was wonderful fresh produce in Malatya in the form of apricots and cherries, and cheap too! It also has good bazaars for other things.
There are many cheap pensions and better close to the city centre.
It was extremely hot, like in the 40s whilst we were there. In contrast to sunrise on Mt Nemrut which was freezing with a strong wind.
The 'tour' we took involved leaving Malatya at Noon, going up close to the summit of Nemrut by minibus (maybe 2-3 hour trip), seeing the sunset from Nemrut, dinner at pension close to the summit, return very early morning for sunrise from Nemrut, breakfast at the pension and then back to Malatya by lunchtime.
Details of this package are available from the Tourist Information Centre in Malatya. They are quite helpful, and the person we spoke to had good English.
Accommodation at the pension (the Gunes) was basic but okay and with friendly host and staff.
We were generally happy with the trip overall, and Mt Nemrut is amazing. We regard it as a 'must see' if visiting Turkey.
Cost of entry to Mt Nemrut is additional to the package cost.
We were told similar types of tours to Nemrut from Adiyaman, did not offer both sunset and sunrise visits in the one package.
