Duplex: Kareoke Madness!

Nightlife Spot: Duplex
Duplex is a three story bar. The first floor there has a pianist and it seems as if the staff take turns to sing with him, or he sings alone or..... I'll be anyone who really wants to could sing. The second floor is a regular bar and the third floor is....drumroll please....Kareoke! Not so thrilling. I just wanted to insert some drama. Lots of the folks I was with got up and sang. I was sneaky and didn't get up on stage until it was the entire group of us AND there was only one person left in the audience. I'm sneaky like that

Nightlife Spot: Flatiron Lounge
Went here after a concert to meet up with some friends. I liked the fact that we could sit, sip drinks and HEAR each other. It was around 11 or 12ish when I showed up and although it had gotten a little more crowded by the time I left, the jazzy music was still at a volume where conversations could still be heard.

Nightlife Spot: Gotham Comedy Club
I first went to the Gotham Comedy club, around four years ago, when it was on a side street and much smaller. Every one of the four comedians we saw were hysterical. The club has changed since then. It's now on 23rd street, much larger and modern with amphitheater look to it. Unfortunately, only two of the four comedians we saw this time around were really good. It could've been an off-night but it was the Fourth of July weekend. I would've thought that they'd book better talent for such a big weekend. It could also be trade off for the "new and improved" look of the club. Who can tell???
