Getting TO/AROUND: I found Amsterdam to be an extremely walkable city. I walked just about everywhere. It was a great way to get to know the city and get to learn where everything is. I did take the tram a couple of times, however, and found it to be safe, prompt and maybe a little overpriced. Taxis are also overpriced so pack your comfy walking shoes and hit the road.

johngayton Tue Feb 3, 2009 01:42 UTC HeHe! - good old Amsterdam hotels. Every time I go the one I loved so much last time has doubled in price and so is always a moveable feast. Tx for Appledore visit, Cheers, John. | aussirose Sun Sep 21, 2008 00:41 UTC Amsterdam is on my 'must see' list. I just love the pix here on vt of the canals, trees & gorgeous buildings :o) Thanks for the comedy theater tip! Cheers, Ann :o) | BillNJ Wed Jun 25, 2008 22:47 UTC Joann, thanks for visiting my Maastricht page. Both Amsterdam and Maastricht have big town squares and great outdoor cafes. Both are great! The energy in Maastricht, though, is a little more low-key. Cheers, Bill | betako3 Mon May 19, 2008 19:57 UTC I'd love to return to Amsterdam, it has a special atmosphere and I don't mean coffeeshops. I share your enthusiasm for its architecture but I do mind rain. I'd love to have some sun next time in Amsterdam :) |
