Hooglandsekerk Churches Review

I haven't had a chance to go into this church but I've walked by quite often as my friends live right down the street from it. So there's my endorsement! Not much in the area of descriptiveness but hey, here's a nice picture of it!

Leiden is a beautiful little city. Everywhere you look, you'll find a beautiful street or building, fun restaurants and cafes and of course there are the canals. Just walking around it is an enjoyable activity!

Pieterskerk Churches Review

I loved the inside of this Cathedral. Whenever I look at this picture I feel as if men in Top Hats and women in gowns should be dancing here!

Update: September 2006 - Went back to Leiden and attended a wedding and it's reception here. Still no men in top hats but it was a beautiful setting and I've added some photos to prove it!

DeBurcht Historical Leiden Review

You can climb up here for some good views of Leiden. It's an old fort where the Dutch defeated the Spaniards - in a nutshell! We went there when there was either a field trip or recreation period for a bunch of 4th or 5th graders with really healthy vocal chords.

Almshouses

Almshouses are a form of Lower-Income Housing and the dwellings are usually around a courtyard. There are many of these in Leiden. I'm pretty sure this is called Jean Pesynhof.

I could be wrong.

De Put Windmill Windmill Review

I was so happy to finally see some Windmills. When I went to Amsterdam last year I didn't see any. Saw plenty on the ride from the airport to Leiden and De Put is one of the two that can be found in Leiden.
