I first visited Puerto Rico in 1991 for a friend's wedding. We stayed in a small town and only visited San Juan on our last day to tour El Morro. I remember looking up at the Spanish style buildings over the city wall as we approached El Morro and wanting to be able to explore the streets they were on. Unfortunately, there wasn't time.
So when my friends and I decided to go on cruise from this city (coincidentally for another wedding!) I jumped at the opportunity to arrive a day ahead of time so I could finally explore Old San Juan.
I fell in love with this city and its historic charm. The colors and personality of this section of the city are captivating. The architecture made me feel like I was in Spain while the warmth of its inhabitants reminded that I was in Puerto Rico.
- Pros:Colorful and wonderfully preserved
- Cons:Hot baby, HOT!
- In a nutshell:El calor y el ambiente. Viva San Juan!
