  • This absolutely stunning cathedral is a must see when you visit Montreal. Besides the beautiful architecture and great views of Montreal, you'll learn about the history of Brother Andre who performed actual, documented miracles.

  • In the southwest portion of majestic Mont Royal sits the Chateau. The building itself is beautiful with a small cafeteria inside. But in front of it sits the lookout, presenting one of the nicest views of downtown Montreal.

Directions: You can either walk up from downtown or drive up to the parking lot and then walk up from there.

  • Downtown Montreal is a fascinating mixture of old & new. Anytime of the year it's an absolute pleasure to walk around the downtown area. With something new to discover on most every block, great fun can be had by all!

  • Victoria Square sits on the edge of Old Montreal. An inner courtyard right beside it is one of my favourite places in all of Montreal.

This places, known as "Le Centre de Commerce Mondial", is a block of renovated old buildings featuring an atrium with an indoor fountain where the Ruelle des Fortifications (alley) use to be. There's also a piece of the Berlin wall that was given to Montreal for its 350th birthday.

Be sure to look up at the magnificent series of glass that encloses the area.

It's especially wonderful to visit when it's very cold outside.

  • This is one of my favourite places in the entire city! Smaller in size than Quebec City but still offering a wonderful offering of historical old buildings, cobblestone streets, great restaurants, and street performers (the latter only in the summer).

If you get a chance do wander down to Old Montreal. It's well worth it.

Beside Vieux Montreal is the port. It offers a number of attractions that kids especially will enjoy.

Planning a long weekend escape for August and your tips are extremely helpful. Thank you so much!

That "expansive set of interconnected shopping malls" sorta reminds me of Chicago! I understand Londoners went wild over Krispy Kreme, as well, when it debuted @ Harrod's! Your Baton Rouge photo is gorgeous. :) Wonderful page on Montreal.
