San Francisco is one of the most photogenic cities I've ever seen.. It's a glorious place to walk around, no matter what time of year!
Here's a shot of the famous cable car. I'd recommend getting a tourist MUNI pass, which gives you unlimited travel privileges on all of the public transit in the city.
There's an interesting historical connection between San Francisco and Victoria, BC.
In 1857 Victoria was a sleepy little town with no more than 500 immigrants (non-natives). Then in 1858, gold was discovered on the mainland of British Columbia and up in the Yukon. In that year over 20,000 men travelled by ship up to Victoria in search of their fortunes!
In Victoria they purchased miner's licenses and supplies. From there they crossed over to the mainland and then up the Fraser River.
It's important to remember that at this time, Vancouver didn't even exist and Canada had not yet been formed!
