Zacatecas is a beautiful and historic mining community in the middle of Mexico. Originating in the 1500's, Zacatecas has provided the motherland of Spain with huge amounts of silver. If you'd like to learn more about the history of Zacatecas then click here. |
| | Like many communities in Mexico, Zacatecas is a shopper's paradise. There are hundreds of stores to choose from as well as many streetside vendors. |
Right within the city is an old mine called "El Eden". Tours are provided daily for a cost of just 30 pesos (approx. US$3) for adults. The 30 minute tour is most interesting and informative, even for those who don't speak Spanish. See my Mina El Eden travelogue below for more photos and information. | | |

I can't imagine so many people wanting to have their shoes cleaned. | calcaf38 Tue Jun 19, 2007 02:28 UTC Thank you for your kind comments about my Centralia page. Your Zacatecas page is very interesting. Good photos and interesting texts. | Jim_Eliason Fri Nov 25, 2005 00:43 UTC great tips! | travelgirl3 Wed Dec 8, 2004 16:52 UTC Hi Robert, Very interesting Zacatecas Page. It must be very picturesque, tucked in the hills like that. The orange salsa sounds unusual, but delicious. Thanks for sharing. |
