NKT and NDB are the best places to exchange money. Anywhere else you want to exchnge some money people will rob you and you'll loose money on the exchnaging process. In NKT try to exchnage money on the big market.

Alternative: Dont exchnage money has you arrive, if you really need it ask from the start for 380UM!! First time i got to Mauritania in NDB, I trusted the people from the hotel and they brought they're friend, Hotel ASIMEX, and they said ok ok no problem trust us and exchange money with our friend, instead of getting 1euro=380UM we got 1euro=320UM...

If you enchnage dollars, you will loose lots of money on the process. Euros is what you need here. People dont trust dollars as they say its easier to fake and also because its lower than the euro. People will try to say, no no we dont enchange dollars and you say please please ok ok, so they will make you maybe 230UM up to 280UM for the dollar
