Portuguese district included in the regional province of the High Alentejo (Alto Alentejo). Borders north with the Santarem distric and with the Portalegre district. East with Spain, south with Beja distric and West with Setubal district.
Its the second larger portuguese district with a total area of 7393km2.
In 2001 the toal population was 173.408

the whole district is divided in 14 municipal areas:

Reguengos de Monsaraz
Vendas Novas
Viana do Alentejo
Vila Vicosa

The region

This district completes the whole Central Alentejo. This region has a certain type of features. Cork trees, Olive trees, horses, sheeps, cows, bulls, water dams...
