Bir Gandus | Bir Gandus western sahara morocco mauritania |
Bir Gandus is the last building complex you'll find in Morocco (or Western Sahara if you want). This is the police control check point for passports when coming in or out of the southern part of western sahara going or coming from Mauritania.
From now on the region starts to be a bit dangerous as the moroccan defense wall (preventing Polisario Guerrilla) from atacking Moroccan territory ends. From this point land mines are in a number of thousands and the road (or the desert tracks) can be very hard and dangerous. On the way entering to the Mauritanian first police check you have 7km of sand, ruined and bombed road and thousands of landmines along with bandits and outlaws that make traffic of all goods... |
| | this is when you actually go out of morocco and enter no mans land towards mauritania. you have 7km with no protection, just sand and desert tracks (when you have it) and thousands of land mines. |
