Terjit is a oasis located in the mountains. This small village is supplied by two sources of water springs, something that is a bit rare in Mauritania. The water just runs down the rock until it gets the floor and forms these amazing pools where one can delight yourself swiming and bathing while the sun is strong in the desert. The rock formation where this spring is located makes it very fresh and calm.

Terjit is a bit off the track due to the really bad road. Its located a bit farway from everything. 40km north of is Atar. Terjit is formed by two things, Terjit the village and Terjit the water springs inside the rock valley. After the village you will have to go maybe 2km more until you actually get to the swater springs. The amazing fact about this water spring is that water runs down the rock. Water is very fresh and you can drink direct from the one that runs down the rock. A bit above the camp where all the tents are settled, you have a hot spring. just great, you can choose warm or fresh water. The whole area is full of palm trees. hundreds of them that along with the water runing and tents and shadow while the sun is very strong, conclusion, perfect place to rest.

Well, what to say about a place which made my trip worth wild. This place its just amazing. In Mauritania you will find many places which look a like others for thousands of kms. Just a few places in the whole country are different and make your whole trip worth comming. This place here, both Terjit and the way to Terjit are very beautiful. Rock formation full of orange dunes which climb the rocks for hundreds of metres, dromadaries palm trees...
