Welcome to my hometown, Lugano!

by musti72 - last update: Jun 26, 2003

View of Lugano from the top of Monte Brč
Welcome to Lugano! It's a small city (about 50'000 people) but the largest city of the Canton Ticino, the southern italian speaking part of Switzerland, where italian and mediterrean way of life is mixed with swiss precision and efficiency.
It's laid on a bay of Lake Lugano (or Lake Ceresio), between the two mountains Monte San Salvatore and Monte Bre.
For this scenery Lugano is sometimes also called little Rio de Janeiro.
I hope my tips will help you to plan your trip and to enjoy your stay here in Lugano!

Hi! Is the Ristorante degli Artisti up the hill from town in a flattened wide spot in the road, a small courtyard of just a few buildings. I had such a marvelous meal there and have wondered what the name was ever since. PamelaHillNettleton@comcast.net
