Rovaniemi lies on on the arctic circle and is one of the northernmost cities in the world.
Located at the confluence of Lapland’s mighty rivers Kemijoki and Ounasjoki, it is the capital of the province and also the gate to the widely untouched arctic region called Lapland. In the short summer the nights become days, but during the long and cold winter the sun hides for several months.
I have been there only in summer but I think it's quite an experience also in winter, especially during christmast, because here you find the home of Santa Claus.
