It is the only real banjar batik shop we have found.
The canvas itself is imported from another island but the motifs and technics are banjar.
They sew the patterns on to the bandanna and then plunge it into water with pigment. The sewed together parts stay white.

The type I bought was named 'paris' and the canvas was silk.
You can see business is going well because the owner lives in a stone house (not that common in banjarmasin) and they have a lot of birds.( a status symbol , also kept for the birdsongs)

What to buy: mainly fabric - lots of choise. Also not tipicall banjar. The cloth is not finished...
Scarf , wraps...

What to pay: we payed 30 000 ir for one. Price depends on the material , size , ...
And on how many you buy. Don't be affraid to ask for a better prize. But be resonable. They are too. And it is a really labor intensive job. You can see that for yourself in the shop.

Noordiansyah (his name): This is amazing.....

This is not a shop. This is a man sitting on the street who makes stamps. As a matter affect there are a few men having a stand in this straat.

The amazing fact is they cut the stamps with nives. The letters , the logo , the curves...
All in a few houres.

What to buy: A stamp. What else.
Just walk arround and watch the stamps they have already made and see what you are after. They all carry a little book with them and they are shown on a small board.

What to pay: 50 000 Ir. Depends how complicated your design is. The size... Ours took a few houres to make.

Roberta department store: Never seen somebody sewing so fast

What to buy: Well in the middle of the department store a guy with a sewing machine caught my attention.

For 20 000IR he sewed the name off my organisation an a cap. Price of the cap included.

Indonesian people use the service to sew the puma logo on a shirt for example.

Well it is a huge shop filled with batik. There are a lot of shops all over indonesia.

I bought a some things like a lipstick holder - table decoration...

Not authentic kalimantees...I would refer to one off my other tips.
