Sun setting in Santa Monica
Of all of the places that I've lived- Santa Monica is my home. (Actually I lived just outside of Santa Monica- but I was there more than I was home.)
I love everything about Santa Monica- everything! The smell of trash in the alleys doesn't even bother me- the homeless people who camp by the promenade- they don't bother me (in fact, I miss them more than anyone else that I met out there). I honestly cannot think of one thing that I don't like about Santa Monica.
Me on the Promenade in '98.

Santa Monica Third Street Promenade

I can't believe I don't have a better picture of the Promenade! I lived in California for about four months and I was at the Promenade for probably three and a half months. I'll find one- I know I have one.

The Third Street Promenade is located on Third St. between Broadway and Wilshire- I believe. It's great for shopping, eating, relaxing, people watching, star watching, meeting new people... it's a great place. There are a lot (or at least there used to be a lot) of carts selling sunglasses, jewelry,
t-shirts, food, toys, and ice cream (that was me I worked at the ice cream cart). Also street performers are every where and a lot of them are really good!

I'm going to start a Promenade page as soon as I find my pics but go to downtownsm.com for more info.

Santa Monica Pier

If you've seen a roller coaster on a pier in any movie- it's more than likely the Santa Monica Pier.

There are rides, games, artists, more cart vendors- it's a carnival.
Santa Monica Pier is a historic part of LA- your trip is not complete unless you go check it out.

Pros:"Relaxing, beautiful, fun, fun beach."
Cons:"Extremely diverse group of people- which is good- but some are a little scary."
In A Nutshell:"Something for everyone!"
