Nightlife Spot: BEST MUSIC, DANCING, GREAT DJS, FROM 1:00 AM
This is for all the musiclovers, house-lovers, djs,. How many of you ever heard a live deephouse group perform life? How many of you experienced dancing multicultural crowd - sometimes with live sax through the audience - in peace as one nation under a groove? This is an unforced, undergroundclub with the best local djs & international guest dj's in the world - not to be missed! In the beginning of the evening it's a Sushi resto at reasonable prices with nice loungy background music and 60's Space Age furniture. Later on, around midnight the restaurant becommes a club with great music, funky people get in, you get in the mood by the atmospheric vibes and enjoy the evening! If you want other food I recommend Velvet Lounge (next door). It's a bit more expensive, but very classy, fusion food (a mixture of local & international tastes). Beware : Stereo Sushi is closed in summer as most clubs! Checkout the website before you plan your evening! Famous dj's from around the globe performed @ Stereo : JOE CLAUSELL (NYC) JON CULTER (USA) KERRI CHANDLER (USA) CHARLES WEBSTER (USA) MR.BONGO (USA) Rainer Trüby King Britt Joe Clausell Osunlade Gotan Project .... Nice crowded loungeclub with selective black doorkeepers in black costume. It's nicely decorated with psychedelic wallpaper with 60's prints and large seats for about 20 people in a square. The audience is +-30 y.o. on average. The negative part is that there is no airco, so it can be very hot up till 30°! Music is good, not so fine as Stereo Sushi offcourse if you're musical taste is fine, but this club is definitely a must visit. For a perfect night out in Antwerp I suggest Velvet lounge as a starter, then this ex-onstage club (if it's open) and finally around 1:30 (not earlier) Stereo Sushi. This is a tip for creative young people or older people that appreciate creative underground music and style, not the mainstream radio hits and swingpubs.

The latest trend in the big cities: lounge bars. Like in Paris,Antwerp,... They all release their own cd's with relaxing music, nice atmospheric concept! You can consider it as a bar+restaurant!

Nightlife Spot: BERLIN
New trendy bar with mixed public, and modern music, sometimes dj performances (see picture). Now and then it's very busy and people dance, the music is pop, lounge, jazzy house, housy jazz like Buscemi or US3 During daytime people come for breakfast, brunch or lunch, even the police from the other side of the street come here. Kitchen is open till 23h and in the weekend til 22 h. You can drink fresh orangejuice or cocktails and enjoy the 'hotspot' with your laptop, it's free wireles internet. Antwerp people, but also American or Japanese tourists mail their holidayfoto's home at Berlin. .

This is a quiet, small, modern place recommended by some djs. The music is garage,groovy,drum & bass. Good for a drink.

Nightlife Spot: CAFE D'ANVERS
Cafe d'Anvers is maybe one of the most popular nightclubs in Belgium. Lots of clubs come & go, but this is a fixed value in nightlife for over 17 years. It's an old restored church with good house. In past, it was well known by gay & lesbian people,but now it's mixed audience. The ambiance is good (better than commercial clubs although). Before midnight the entrance is free, later you pay about €7. Parties with international dj's are quiet expensive, entrance fee is €20! In Stereo Sushi you pay only €10 for more fine quality music when an international guestdj comes. In Café d'Anvers the music is served by local djs, watch the website's agenda for international dj's. DJ's from around the world play here, Derrick Carter (Chicago) Kenny Hawkes (UK) Laurent Garnier (France),Anthony Rother (Germany).... The style is more tech-house/electro. More heavy than in past when it was more Garage with Soul. Antwerp's students from the fashion scene like to visit this place and once or twice a year there is a fashion show. Antwerp is in fact the fashion capital of Belgium next to Brussels. Nice place in general, remember to come after 1:00 midnight, like most people do or you will be the first visitor. People go out later and later nowadays, especially in the big cities...
