We have travelled to quite a few corners of the world but this site goes out to our friends in The Gambia. Do go visit them and help them to a richer life. We've just come back from another very rewarding visit. You can read our update on our Gambian page. |
| | Travels since the Gambia A number of our friends have asked us why we haven't updated our travel pages since going to The Gambia, considering we've been to Jamaica, Egypt and five times to India in the in-between years. In the course of compiling this update one of our loveliest friends, Raymond "Henry" Cooper has died. Raymond lived in Spain, with his wife of twenty-six years, Terese and their two fine sons. Our travels over the years should have taken us to Spain often; instead we relied on their annual Christmas visit to his mother's home in Wales and just kept in touch by telephone. Originally we wanted to dedicate this site to our friends in The Gambia and generate as much publicity for them and their country. We are still in touch with Lucas and his family and try to help out when we can. Lucas fell out of a tree, last autumn and badly damaged his wrist making palm-tapping extremely painful and extra hazardous. We are pleased to say that he's on the mend and back to providing the best he can for his family. Now we like to add a dedication to Raymond, who never made it to India but was intensely happy living in his beloved Spain. We did our trip to the Kalahari and on to Zambia, on a budget, you can read about the Ghanzi leg of the trip on the link above. We hope you enjoyed our write up of our August 2005 trip to India, well at least the stay in Rishikesh. Delhi, Varanasi, Lucknow and Haridwar will have to wait for now. We were back in the Gambia in November, December 2006 and David was there again in October 2007, on his way to Guinea-Bissau with Lucas. There's an amusing travelogue of that trip on the Guinea-Bissau link. |
