Indira Regent

Bangkok was the final leg of our Asian Honeymoon. We stayed at the Indira Regent Hotel - which was not too bad as far as hotels go - but felt very 70's. The city was very dirty - pollution and contruction was taking place. We got out of the city and went to the Floating Market and also went to the Botanical Gardens. The 1/2 Day city tour is worth doing - this included the Temples. Shopping was a night mare.

Local Travel

Traffic is really bad in Bangkok - the best way to travel around is by Tuk Tuk - but make sure that you get your hotel name written in Thai - as taxi drivers English is very limited. Most hotels tend to have the hotel name written on the key tag - however that does not help if you leave your keys with receiption! It is also important to negotiate your taxi fare in advance - you will be taken down side streets - but that is all part of the Bangkok experience.

Festivals

There always seemed to be something to watch in the side streets of Bangkok. October is the main time for the Vegetarian Festivals - nothing like the Phuket festival.
