Lough Key Forest Park Travel Guide: 0 reviews and 0 photos

Lough Key Forest Park is a beautiful place where you can enjoy nature at its best. It is situated just outside the town of Boyle Co. Roscommon with the main enterance on the Dublin road. It was donated as a gift to the people of Ireland by former president Douglas Hyde. There is a small charge per car at the entrance gate. There is plenty of parking and there is a campsite on the grounds but that costs extra to stay in. If you are cycling or on foot you dont pay!!! There is an old stately home on the grounds and any amount of forest walks there are even wild deer on the grounds.
There is also a boat trip which you can take around Lough Key the guide explaines the history of the area and you can see all the islands in Lough Key and the ruins of Monastic settlements from early christian times. This uncomerciallised part of Ireland is worth a visit.
