"Small, basic island - with plenty of good diving.." Apo Island by Yezber

Apo Island Travel Guide: 21 reviews and 72 photos

Apo Island is a small island off the coast of Negros a bit south of Dumaguete. Everything is pretty basic - except the diving. So prepare for a place with a slightly salty water for washing, only a few hours of electricity every day, no internet and no phone connection unless you take your mobile phone for a 20 minute walk to the lighthouse (up hill!).
But even if you insist on comfort you will be willing to compromise to enjoy this kind of diving.

One of the "problems" of staying on Apo Island is that you're getting too many photos of sunsets...

They are working hard to improve the local environment - replanting mangrove, protecting the trees etc. And they are not selling shells, cowries and conches to the tourists like in most other places.
Under the surface... - some of the water surrounding the island has been defined as a protected environment - a "Marine Sanctuary".

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Amazing diving, cozy
  • Cons:No showers, hardly any electricity
  • In a nutshell:A good place to stay for 4-7 days of diving
