Great Sailors

Going to the city of Maritime, Makasar is a wonderful journey that I have. To the city with the people had known since long time ago as a great sailors, brave and heroic. They sailed to Africa, Madagascar island, China, Australia, Conquers Malacca, and Pasifics. They looked upon the stars to find their way, and looked for predictions in the ocean-water. They always had the right feeling by smelling the ocean….
There are 4 race in south Sulawesi, Bugis, Makassar, Mandar and Torajan.
And all of them live in peacefully and respect one another. Friendly people and nice smile on their face…. Great food, and nice city.

Fort Rotterdam

Located infront of the Losari beach. Ford Rotterdam or Benteng Ujung Pandang was built by the Gowa king, Karaeng Tunipalangga Ulaweng, in 1545.

Sunset on Tanjung Bunga

When arrived here, the sun almost sleep....but still luckily can enjoy the great moment of the sunset...:)

Heard so much of the Bugis in history as sailors (lanun) and mercenary warriors. So glad to learn more of Makassar. Thanks for sharing. Would love to eat pisang epe. Your pic makes so irresistable.
