Designhotel La Bergere and other Maastricht, Netherlands Hotel/Accommodation Reviews

Just in front of the railwaystation is the designhotel La Bergere. I red about it in many life -style magazins and my insurance-company even offered a discount ticket.

Except the usual hotelrooms the hotel also has wet rooms with special designed bathrooms, but luckily also with a bed, so you don't need to sleep in the bath. Around the hotel in the surrounding streets are about 60 furnished apartments in different styles for rent for one day or if you wish...for several years or longer.

It's advisible to make reservations in time.

Unique Qualities: Welcome cocktail and tapas at the reception, champaign breakfast and if you wish... breakfast till 6 PM in Simply Bread. In the CD library you can find 600 CDs to borrow for free. There is a transcontinental lounge with live dj. And there is much more... like a beautylounge, a gymnasium, patio..

The Design Hotel La Bergère offers also accommodation in 60 hotel apartments in the historical buildings in the surrounding streets just around the corner of the hotel. Also these apartments are decorated in various styles. The combination of authentic elements and modern style is lovely.

We were lucky to have the possibility of a last minute booking of one of these apartment with discount.

Unique Qualities: The apartments have a kitchen, bathroom, livingroom and 1 or 2 bedrooms. They are fully equipped with TV , video, CD player, fridge and microwave. The apartments have full hotel service with the use of the beauty lounge, cleaning service, laundry service, internet and telephone facilities.

The breakfast for the hotelguests is served in La Byb, the fashionable lounge bar. It was quite an experience to have my breakfast for the first time in a comfortable black leather lounge chair with bright coloured cushions.

It was a great ambiance. There was only one problem... it was not easy to come out of your chair to chose from the abundant breakfast-buffet. But finally the huge variety of oven-fresh breads, the delicious fresh fruitsalads and -juices, the different teas and don't forget ... the champagne were tempting enough to do so.

Except VT-ers and owners of discount tickets offered by their insurance company also Dutch celebrities, well known from television, have discovered this special designhotel La Bergere with the lovely decorated rooms and great facilities.

Behind the reception desk I saw these coloured tiles with their names, like Rob Trip, André van Duyn, Daphne Dekkers, Joke Bruys......

For the VT meeting in august 2005 I was looking for a cheap hotel in the citycentre of Maastricht. At virtualtourist I found the link www.gtahotels.com, offering the cheapest hotel with a double room with private toilet and shower for about 60 euro (breakfast buffet included).

The hotel is in the middle of the historical citycentre right next to the historical townhall. It has a cafe-restaurant and terrace at the Markt. To reach our room we had to climb the stairs to the third flour, but they said there will be an elevator within a year.

We parked our car in front of the hotel at the Markt. Though very crowded at saturday afternoon, we found a parking place for 2.20 euro a hour, but after 6 pm and at sundays its free parking. So we decided to leave our car there (paying for four hours). There is also a parking garage nearby.

Unique Qualities: Cheap hotel close all the historical places in town and easily to reach by car.
