I'm excited about going to India for the first time next year. Sikkim sounds to be an interesting area to visit, but probably I will not have time to go there on my first visit to India.

Both monasteries and housing areas on hills look amazing. I have no idea what's thangka but it sounds to me very secret and exotic. The trip you had by car is a must, I see :-)

Beautiful architecture and colour schemes on those monasteries you visited! That was a nice little excursion you made into the more remote mountains too. It looks like it was an interesting walk!
