I visited Agadir five times, in 1992, 2000, 2001, 2007 and 2008. All the times when I visited Agadir, I only stayed for a few days, mostly to acclimatize before or relax after trips around. Agadir is a good starting point for travelling in the South of Morocco and the Antiatlas. So I visited Tafraoute, Taroudant, Tata, Foum Zguid, Zagora, Ouarzazate, Ait Ben Haddou, Marrakech and other places starting from Agadir. Nowadays there are also many cheap flights to Marrakech

Agadir is a modern city, rebuilt after the earthquake of 1960. The importance of Agadir as a commercial and fishing port is growing. The breeze from the Atlantic Ocean is nice, so Agadir has also developed into a resort. The first you see arriving in Agadir are lots of modern block buildings, shopping malls and a huge amount of hotels and resorts, often in lovely green gardens.

If you don't like these touristy areas and prefer to stay in a more Moroccan ambiance, you can look for a small and cheap hotel in the Nouveau Talbjort area around Place Lahcen Tamri, about 1 km from the coast.

If you stay for a while in Agadir and start to walk and look around, you can also discover parts of the other Agadir like the harbour, the Jardim de Olhao and the interesting Municipal Museum. And within a half hour drive you are in the Paradise Valley on your way to Immouzer.

    Hi Sachara, nice pic! A friend sent me postcard from Taroudanht 2003, which showed same. She also brought me 'arganium' oil, which I heard Morroccan ladies swear by for keeping faces wrinkle-free! See me frantically applying LOL :-) Cosycarol
