The Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou is one of the most famous kasbahs in the Atlas Region. Much of the kasbah is rebuilt, because it deserved many times as a decor for movies. Now is the kasbah an UNESCO World Heritage Site as ''a striking example of the architecture of South Morocco".
The first time I visited Ait Ben Haddou in 2001. I came back in 2008 for two nights to have all the time to stroll around in the kasbah, to climb to the ruins of the fortified granary with stunning views at the surrounding landscape and to walk a bit along the river and in the village. |

S&GR Mon Apr 6, 2009 01:55 UTC Ait Ben Haddou was a highlight. The river was full and running. There were boys with donkeys to take you across. We went at sunrise and had to ford the icy river. It was well worth the frozen toes. The hotel was, however, the Motel 6 of Morocco. | littlesam1 Wed Sep 17, 2008 15:07 UTC Wow! This lookes unbelievable. Great page. | Kaspian Thu Jun 12, 2008 20:50 UTC Unbelievable!!! | barryg23 Mon Apr 23, 2007 08:22 UTC We were hoping to stay at Hotel la Kasbah but it was sold out so we ended up in the Auberge almost next door, maybe the same one? |
