Getting TO/AROUND: There are direct (charter) flights to Marrakech from Europe (anyway from Amsterdam and London). Usuallly I fly with Royal Air Maroc. Arriving by international flight in Casablanca you have connecting RAM flights all over Morocco which makes it easy to start your trip at one place and leave the country from another city.

From the air you have stunning views at the (sometimes snowcapped) Atlas mountains. Close to the airport of Marrakech you see the olive gardens and bassins around Menara (picture 4) and a glimpse at the hotels with swimmingpools at the edge af the town (picture 5).

The airport is six km southwest of Marrakech. If you didn't arrange a transfer in advance (some hotels and riads do offer), you can take a petit taxi or the bus.

Getting TO/AROUND: From Marrakech you can take only the train to the north, to Casablanca (3-4 hrs), Rabat (4 hrs), Meknes (7hrs) or Fez (8 hrs). There are several trains a day to Casablanca, some direct trains to Meknes and Fez and overnight trains to Tangier.

To other places in Morocco you can take the ONCF related supratours busses. For all actual schedules of the trains and the supratours busses you have to look at the website of ONCF.

The railwaystation is the Ville Nouvelle about 1 km west of the Place du 16 Novembre. When I visited Marrakech in march 2007 and january 2008 the reconstruction of the new railwaystation was still in progress.
