by sachara - last update: May 7, 2004

southern shore of Lake Tana
Bahir Dar has a scenic location on the southern shore of the Lake Tana. With its lovely avenues with flamboyant trees it's a pleasant town to stay for a few days.
Bahir Dar is a good base to explore the Blue Nile Falls and the monasteries at the islands and peninsula of Lake Tana.

Spent two days chilling in the Ghidion gardens and never got around to going on the lake. Very naughty! Next time. Great info with class photos. Thanks.

Such a stunning part of the world that many of us sadly feel unsafe to visit because of the local situation there. Your beautiful photos convey the mystical quality of the places, thanks!

Wow, superb intro photo! Almost a painting! The whole page is fascinating, both with the monasteries and with the Blue Nile falls!
